Why we made Making Open
Changemakers have told us they need help to communicate, connect and make complex concepts relatable to the public and people inside government and companies to influence change.
Designed in response to real needs
Over 100 advocates and organisations from around the world were involved in the research and development of Making Open and have the prototype content and design kit.
They generously shared their challenges, ideas to improve designs, and suggested topics.
Connecting changemakers using visual design and stories
What we heard
During the research phase, we heard that the biggest barrier is people don’t have the funds, design skills or time to create the materials they need.
They find it hard to simply explain the dry and technical stuff such as the policies, systems, standards, and data that can be put in place to make positive change happen.
Many people want lead change but don’t know where to start on their open journey. They are looking for great ideas and learning pathways.
We made Making Open for people to overcome these challenges.
